Hobbies: There are
lots of things I like to do, but I'm not sure if any of them count as a
hobby (these are in no particular order). I like to spend time with my
husband. I like to make my house sparkle. I like to dream big dreams. I
like to organize everything. I like to talk to friends on the phone. I
like to read. I like to e-mail. I like to watch Food Network. I like to
listen to pretty much anything on Moody radio. I like to witness God's
work in my life and in the lives of others. I like to drink coffee (but
only 1, maybe 2 cups a day). I like to eat sushi. I like to speak Spanish.
I like to read my Bible. I like to get up early, but I also like to sleep.
I like to hug and kiss my two little girls. I like to try to solve all the
world's problems (if only people would listen!). I like to teach. I like
to learn. I like to make my husband happy. I like to make my mom proud. I
like to make my kids smile. I like to take baths in the winter. I like to
plan. I like to dance. I like to sing. I like to show my appreciation. I
like to praise God.
Christian
Since: My mother led me to the Lord when I was a child,
around 7 years old. I was raised in the church. Beginning in high school,
I didn't completely turn my back on God, but I did spend a lot of years as
a very lukewarm, wishy-washy Christian. I think I took my salvation and my
God for granted, and lived my life like everyone else, not bad or
anything, but not living for the Lord. On 9/11/01, my husband and I were
living in Arlington, VA (home of the Pentagon. About 3mi. From our
apartment). For those of us in the USA, especially in areas directly
affected by the terrorist attack, it was a very, very frightening day.
That evening, I woke up shaking and thinking to myself, "I am terrified."
I picked up my rather dusty Bible and opened it up to Joshua 1:9, "Have I
not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not
be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
God was speaking directly to me. It was like He was audibly saying, "See,
Trish, you may have forgotten about Me, but I haven't forgotten about you.
You are still Mine. I am with you." I felt like a prodigal daughter and
was so, so grateful. I realized it was time to quit playing around, being
a Christian only when it was convenient, and I got serious about my faith.
And I am still so, so grateful. I'm so glad God woke me up! Life is so
much better when I am living what I believe!
Why I
love the Lord: Because He first loved me and keeps loving me!
Because He is so merciful and mighty. Because he is the King of Kings and
Lord of Lords. I am so utterly impressed by His sheer perfection. God
doesn't miss a beat. He doesn't need exceptions or caveats. He's got it
all figured out. I just think that is so cool.
