Help me Jesus and Heal My Hurts Part 4

FORGIVENESS

It is very important first of all to rid ourselves of the sins that prevent us from having Jesus dwelling in our hearts. Some of the worst sins are anger, hatred, spite, slander and criticism of others because they destroy peace.

If you keep quarreling and cannot forgive quickly, but let those bad feelings towards someone fester in your heart overnight, it will be harder to rid yourself of them, as they will sink deeper into you. You will therefore be serving two masters, as good cannot mix with evil and it will chase the Holy Spirit away. It is impossible to be a true Christian when you have these feelings in your heart because as well as being destructive, they destroy the soul. Do not go to Holy Communion or the Breaking of Bread if you have not forgiven somebody who has offended you, or you will have committed a very serious sin. In the Our Father it clearly states that we are forgiven only if we forgive others. We cannot truly be forgiven by Jesus and enter the Kingdom of Heaven unless we truly forgive those who have done us wrong. Next time you say the Our Father, stop after the words pertaining to forgiveness and check that you have forgiven everyone who has hurt you in your whole life. If you still harbour feelings of anger, bitterness or resentment, it means that you still have not forgiven him or her, and I suggest you pray to Jesus to help you to forgive that person.

Try your best not to judge others, and not to criticize anyone. If someone has upset us, our first reaction is to fight back, and then to criticize the other person, believing that we would do better than them in that situation. We believe that we are always right and that the other person is wrong. Let us be compassionate and merciful and treat that person as we would treat Jesus. We are all human and make mistakes. We should compare ourselves to Jesus, rather than other people, then we will see how tolerant Jesus is to us and we have to do the same thing. Do not be too sensitive, but let peace reign in your heart. Turn towards the Lord and ask Him to help you to be non-judgemental and non-critical, be determined to only speak well of others, and watch what words you say, and Jesus will help you.

Here is a prayer to help you.

Dear Lord Jesus

I surrender the way that I feel and I
place you in complete control of
the situation. Please help me to be
non-judgemental and non-critical of
peoples' failings.

Please help me let go of all negative
emotions, and fill my heart with your
tremendous love and peace. May your
peace conquer everything.

Amen.

An important verse in the Bible about forgiveness is as follows:-

Matthew 6:14-15

For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses..

Here are prayers on forgiveness for when you cannot at times let go of the hurts that people have inflicted upon you. Say them a few times a day.

HELP ME TO FORGIVE

Dear Holy Spirit

Dear Jesus

You said "to forgive those who trespass
against us". Help me therefore to follow
what you have taught us. I place my
helplessness in being unable to forgive
under your control. Help me conquer
this lack of forgiveness, and bitterness
in my heart. "Jesus I forgive……………
who has hurt me with your forgiveness.
Please bless……..who has hurt me
so that peace may be restored in my heart
and in their heart.

Amen.

Dear Jesus

Help us to remove all barriers,
all obstacles, anything that
prevents us from truly loving you,
following you and doing your Will.

Let the fire of the Holy Spirit of God
burn in our hearts in order to free
us completely and to lead us on
The road to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Amen.
