BIBLE TEACHING SERVICE FOCUS: JESUS OPEN DOORS Text: Ps. 24:7-10; Isaiah 26:1-4; Rev. 3:7-13

Memory Verse: I know thy works: behold I have set before thee an open door and no man can shut it;Ö. Rev. 3:8

Introduction: Doors serve as barriers for any unauthorized person to come in into a house most especially when suchs doors are shut. People or other things including house pets cannot come in unless the doors are opened to them. God has the right and He sometimes shuts the door of heaven may be to hinder rain or any other physical blessing from coming to a man or a land. But He is God who opens and no one closes and when he closes nobody can open. It is note-worthy that any physical opening of the door without the spiritual correlation may not be Godís perfect will for any of His children. So, to enjoy the promise of God for us this year we need to be aware of some of these truths that God will be revealing to us in this study.

1. Godís Promise: 2 Cor. 1:20; 2 Pet. 1:4; 1 Kings 8:56

Our God is a God of His Word; His promises are yea and amen. Whenever He speaks He will make sure that He fulfils whatsoever He says (Num. 23:19; Jer. 1:12; Isa. 55:11). All the promises of God including the opening of doors for us are meant for us to enjoy and God has never intended that any of these blessings will pass us unfulfilled. Let us consider few of these promises from the bible: Promise of health and prosperity (3 John 2); abundance and provision (Lev. 26:9-10; Phil. 4:19); help and protection (Isaiah 41:10; 54:15-17); fruitfulness (Physical and Spiritual) Ex. 23:26; Duet. 7:14. There are other several doors of blessings such as success, breakthrough etc. Mention them with biblical passages that state the promises.

2. Hindrances to open doors: James 4:1-5

Though God intends to open His many doors to several of us but we do stand on His ways, and despite His love we become enemies of ourselves since we hinder Him from fulfilling His counsels for us because of various hindrances around our lives. Apart from major hindrance of sin that must be checked so as to move ahead (Isaiah 59:1-8), there are yet other issues that are not feasible sins but they equally hinder our blessings because they are nevertheless sinful before God. We shall consider some scriptures that will show us some of those hinderances: Pro. 6:16-19; Psalm 1:1,4-6. What are those things that hinder from these verses or from other ones?: envy, jealousy, hatred, bitterness, guile etc. Mention others and discuss them. No matter how we pray and believe God if any of these attributes of the ungodly is allowed in out hearts, we may not be able to receive His promises coming to pass in our lives no matter how we try.

3. Keeping the doors open: Several doors that God has opened unto us and which He will still open must be kept opened. You must not try to do anything that will close it again after being opened to you. Many people on whom the door of breakthrough was opened lost the open door and heaven was closed against them. Remember Uzziah (2 Chro. 26:3-8, 15-16,21), Samson (Judges 13:24-25; 14:5-6; 16:1-3, 18-20). So, to keep the door of grace, anointing, blessings, power, breakthrough etc. opened we must ensure that we take care of ourselves in the following ways:

i. Take heed unto yourself (Acts 20:28a) i.e. examine yourself on daily basis (2 Cor 13:15).

Do not wait until everything is upside down.

Ii.Study the word (Joshua 1:8; 2 Tim. 2:15). You cannot over do this. The bible you study, meditate upon and used will even open more doors unto you.

Iii.Pray to keep the door(s) open and to even open more doors (Matt. 7:7-11; Luke 18:1-8). Prayer is a very serious weapon of our warfare donít joke with it.

Iv.Exercise faith (Heb. 11:6; Rom. 4:16-24) some of the promises may not even come readily but as you believe God and exercise your faith in God you will see God perfecting His counsels and fulfilling them.

There are yet many things to take care of such as living a pure and holy life, being obedient to any known commandments of God, fleeing from all forms of evil and temptation. Mention others and discuss them.

Conclusion

God is not unrighteous to His promises not to bring them to pass. His doors that He has kept open, He will ever keep open and many more will be opened if you and I can only abide and do all within our reach. God bless you.
