Title: Prayer Warrior
Favorite Bible Verse: “And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s. To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel. Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.” (1 Chronicles 20:15-17).
I love those because God fights our battles. He has used these verses many times to encourage and strengthen me.
Home Base: Jerome, Idaho in USA
Career: Currently looking for work. Favorite job was working for the State of Idaho helping senior citizens with programs and services that would help them in their circumstances. I was laid off from that job as they had cuts in funding.
Hobbies: Besides prayer and studying the word, I enjoy horses and horseback riding, classic car shows, vegetable gardening, reading, and doing things outdoors.
Christian Since: July 1978
Why I love the Lord: I love the Lord because He took me out of a dark place and set me on the Rock (Jesus), a firm foundation. I was so unhappy in my old life (before Jesus). God has blessed my life so very much. I have trials yes, and those are difficult. But God makes us grow through the trials. He delivered me from bad relationships and bad situations and into a loving marriage and blessed me with children and grandchildren. I’ve seen God’s deliverance many times and expect I will see it many more times.
We live in the country in Idaho on a few acres of land. I enjoy going out and spending time with the horse and the goats. There’s a lot to get done, but I like being outside. In the winter it’s too cold to go outdoors very much, so we are indoors most of the time. I also enjoy visiting with friends and praying with them over the phone or in person. I love to see when God answers prayer.
I love it when God opens the door to witness to others. Sometimes when I try to do it in my own power it doesn’t come out right or go well. But when God has been preparing a heart and orchestrates it, it is great! I love how the Holy Spirit moves upon my heart and I can also see that He is getting through to them and getting seeds planted. I don’t talk to others as if God might be, I talk to others about God as a matter of fact. I don’t tell others “I think”. I know God and I want it to show in how I witness, both in word and in deed. I have so far yet to go in my walk. The more I know God, the more I know what a sinner I am.
When I was a young child, our Grandmother lived with us. She took us to church and I asked Jesus into my heart then (I was around 5 years old). My Grandmother had some mental health issues and was placed into an Assisted Living Facility in her 60’s. At that time she no longer could take us to church and no one else took us to church. It was too far for me to walk (at 9 or 10 years old). I had no direction and continued to pray, but I soon fell away to my own devices. I didn’t have my own bible. So it went. When I was 16 I ran away from home and was gone about 1 1/2 years. I got into the world of drugs and lived with a man. It was a dark world with drugs and abuse. Then when I was 21 God placed more of His people in my life. I remember at the time I had been thinking, there has to be more to life than this. Getting high wasn’t fun and being verbally browbeat and physically abused at times was worse. I was housecleaning for a lady and she invited me to church. Everything she said that day was in God’s timing. I went to church (1978) and rededicated my life to the Lord. Everything started changing. My husband never came to the Lord and cheated on me a lot. So we divorced. I didn’t meet my current husband until about 8 years later. A lot of good and bad things happened in those 8 years, but God saw me through all of it. He only wants our good. When we fight Him on anything we are just hurting ourselves. Those who are forgiven much, love much. (Luke 7:47)
I am involved in the prayer ministry at church and love to pray with others. God always gives the words. Sometimes people ask how I knew to pray for certain things. But God is the one who leads in what to pray and gives what to pray. I know nothing of their lives, but He is the Author of their life. He knows it all. I have served in other capacities and enjoyed that, but God has specifically called me to prayer. Maybe it’s something that stays in the family…..I am not sure. My Grandmother prayed for us kids all her life. And now I appreciate that more than I ever did before. It’s a labor of love.
Love in Christ,
Judy
