Ihave posted prayer requests a couple of times for my friend, Evelyn, who has numerous health problems, including cancer, who has financial difficulties, and who has 3 boys in prison. One of them was saved and is one fire for the Lord. He is do to be released on July 1. Praise God for that!

On Thursday morning, God told me to drive into Buffalo and visit her. God and I argued this point at length, for my agenda didn’t include time for such a trip! But in the end, He won out. And I’m so glad I went! I have been in awe of the spiritual growth this dear lady has been undergoing and how her faith is growing in the Lord, despite the fact that other than our infrequent phone conversations and the letters one of her boys sends her, she is in no contact whatsoever with Christians!

First she told me how she was disgusted with the medical system, and how she felt that God was the only true healer. Then she shared with me how the severe head aches that she had been experiencing two weeks earlier had simply “gone away” after we prayed about it.

Then she started to tell me about a new development–a growth on her back that bulged out when she bent over and otherwise interfered with her walking. She then started to show me this growth–the same one that had been there earlier that day–and it wasn’t there! It was completely gone! Praise God! We hadn’t even prayed about it.

You know, every time I think of this incident, the Bible text that comes to mind is Acts 14:9-10: “He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healed and called out, “Stand up on your feet!” At that, the man jumped up and began to walk.” I believe that the healing of this lump on Evelyn’s back was simply a consequence of her statement of faith–when she said that God was the only healer! She said it, in her heart she believed it, and the lump was gone! Oh God! Help us each to grow that kind of faith–the faith to be healed! I am also impressed that these two healings (headaches and the lump in her back) are but a deposit from the Lord! I am believing that her cancer is also healed! Please join me in lifting her up to the Lord!
