What does God say about masturbation?

*First of all sex is a gift given from God to married people for their mutual enjoyment.

Proverbs 5:18-19:

“Let your manhood be a blessing; rejoice in the wife of your youth. Let her charms and tender embrace satisfy you. Let her love alone fill you with delight.”

*Also God designed sex as part of the unique relationship of a married couple.

I Corinthians 7:5:

“So do not refuse these rights to each other. The only exception to this rule would be the agreement of both husband and wife to refrain from the rights of marriage for a limited time, so that they can give themselves more completely to prayer. Afterwards, they should come together again so that Satan won’t be able to tempt them because of their lack of self-control.”

*Sexual sin is destructive, even when the effects are not immediately apparent.

I Corinthians 6:18, TLB:

“That is why I say to run from sex sin. No other sin affects the body as this one does. When you sin this sin it is against your own body.”

* Is masturbation a sexual sin? It think it is, as often many undesirable thoughts occur while doing so.

Matt 5:28

I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

* Impure thoughts associated with masturbation can lead also to impure actions.

Eph 2:3

All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.

Jer 16:12-13

And ye have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, ye walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart, that they may not hearken unto me:

I Thessalonians 4:3-5:

Definition and General Overview of the Topic

Masturbation is the sexual stimulation of oneself, usually while having sexual fantasies. It is most commonly done of course by stimulating the penis or the clitoris with the hand. But some individuals, strongly inhibited in childhood against touching the genital, have learned instead how to rub it against bedding or other objects or to squeeze it between the thighs. There is also vaginal stimulation. God did not establish sexual relationship in this manner. Therefore, it is absolutely wrong.

Several overlapping reasons are usually given for the almost universal occurrence of masturbation in adolescence in the industrialized countries. Young people have strong sexual urges for some time before they begin to date and even longer before they have intercourse. There usually has to be a prolonged postponement of marriage until they finish their elaborate education. This is an excuse to be indulged in the act of masturbation!

The young people who are still most concerned about masturbation are those who grow up in families with high ideals, part of whose sexual interest and energy are sublimated into aspirations and creativity. Even though we don’t have it written in black and white that masturbation is bad in the Bible, it is clearly evident that God does not support and act that is flesh, imaginable, immoral, destructive and those things that are not of good report – Phil.4:8.

In the course of ministering deliverance to people especially in Africa, I have fund out that masturbation is a demonic power placed on people by the devil. It is sometime an uncontrollable will of either a young man or woman. I have also discovered than the extent to which the devil has gone to deal with mankind does not limit masturbation to young peoples. Some married people have submitted themselves for deliverance. In many cases, with the help of the Holy Spirit and with the cooperation of those who have come to our faith clinic, the Lord has been faithful in delivering them. 

Sometimes it’s a spell. Of course before it graduates to something like that, it commences with the urge which the devil makes uncontrollable. I remember some years ago, that a young boy who indulged so much in the act of masturbation had sex with a goat. This practice advanced to that level. The consequence of having sex with a goat tied to a stake was a disease. Thank God he was healed by the power in the Name of Jesus.

Masturbation is an immoral act.

Hebrews 12: 16 “See that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son.

Romans 13:13- 14 “Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature”

Immorality is an act of the mind. This is sinful. Instead of masturbating, the will of God for you if you are of marriageable age is to marry according to the will of God. And then, you can enjoy sex with the wife of your youth. Anything short of marrying the correct partner is tantamount to unholiness, worldliness and of course outside the will of God. But do you know God? It is those who are of God that can know the will of the Father in marriage.

Excuses:

Some people engage in masturbation under the pretext of the fact that as long as they are not in the real act it does not matter. This is not correct. Based on what I have discussed above, masturbation is not a natural thing. See what I Cor. 10:23 says: “Everything is permissible” – but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible ” – but not everything is constructive”. In this context, can you proudly say in the midst of the children of God that you masturbate? Anything that you cannot give as a testimony is a shame and it comes from the devil.

Wrong Imagination:

When a person is masturbating – the process is imagination. What are you imagining? Imagining that you are having fun with a woman that is not visible? This is an act of the devil. It is unbecoming of Christians.

Those who have been delivered from this have given good testimony of relief. Evil imagination is of the enemy. He poses pictures that are not real. The devil is a deceiver. You can be out of the devil’s cave today if you will repent. An imagination stems from the spiritual realm. Certain demonic telescope is being used to monitor your life. I have had testimonies of those who have been delivered that whenever they masturbate, they see images. These are images of the devil. Why should you be part of this?

Give your life to Christ and He will order your life well. Let your affection be on things that are above. Be Christ minded? Put on the Lord Jesus Christ! You can then look unto Him the author and finisher of your faith – Hebrews 12:1-2

Lustfulness:

Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes, for the prostitute reduces you to a loaf of bread. – Pro. 6:25. – NIV

“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world – the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does – comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever” – I John 2:15-17.

So many things are concealed in lusts. When a man is given to lusts he can go to any extent to satisfy the lustful desire. The Word of God cannot be broken. One becomes a mere man when you are imagining things that are not real. Instead of masturbation which in it is lust, why can’t you pray for the wife of your youth. Do it in the Christian way and be contented

Wrong Desire:

Masturbation emanates from wrong desires. The way out of this is to yield oneself to the biblical words suggests yielding to the authority of a speaker. The speaker in this sense is the devil. He is liar and the father of it. He tempted Jesus in Matthew Chapter 4 immediately after fasting for forty days and forty nits. The Lord did not yield to the desires of the devil. When the urge comes, reject it in the Name of Jesus.

The way out of Masturbation:

Renewal of the mind

Romans 12:1-2 says ” Therefore, I urge you brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living, sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Conclusion:

I Peter 1:15-15 “Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do, for it is written: Be holy, because I am holy” – NIV
