Do miracles still happen today or was this gift only reserved for Biblical days?
Let us first define the word “miracle”. According the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, 1981, it is: “An event that appears unexplainable by the laws of nature and so is held to be supernatural or an act of God.” Quite accurate I would say. A miracle would not be a miracle if it was an every day event.
We also need to ask ourselves if miracles point without a doubt that the messenger through whom the miracle is performed is from God. Are all miracles from God according to the Scriptures? Let us look at just three Bible texts:
Mark 13:22
For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and miracles to deceive the elect-if that were possible.
Matt 7:22-23
Many will say to me on that day, `Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, `I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
2 Thess 2:9-10
The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, 10and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.
It seems that according to Scriptures miracles were and will be performed by Satan’s agents. To what purpose? “deceive the elect-if that were possible” So miracles are not a definite sign that someone is from God!
Now the question remains: Are there still miracles performed by God today?
If Satan’s agents perform miracles today, I can assure you it is to counterfeit God’s miracles that are performed today.
Jesus gave the power to his disciples and to us to:
Luke 9:1-2
When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
Luke 10:17
The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”
Jesus has given us the power to perform miracles, to heal, to drive out demons.
Why don’t we hear more often about these miracles on television? Simply enough, miracles don’t sell as well as disasters, hatred and strife. If you want to read about miracles that just happened last year and this year, please visit our answered prayer section on this site.
This site has some prayer requests from our subscribers that were answered miraculously. Some of those miracles are: feeding a mob of more than 2000 people with two tubs of cooked rice and milk mixture and one tub of cooked beans, healing of incurable diseases, kidnapped children being returned unharmed to their parents, the worst hurricane of the century being downgraded to a tropical storm, resurrection of a dead little boy and many more. Those are just a glimpse of all miracles that happened last year and this year.
God is active! He cares for you and for me. Will you trust Him and accept Him in your life? He can make the impossible possible. What do you have to loose? John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Yes, miracles happen everyday. I have witnessed several miracles myself.
I would be glad to share a couple miracles with you. As you know, I was blessed to deliver my wonderful son last September. Even though he was born 3 months early everything appeared to be going just fine. About a week later he became very ill with a disease that was eating away at his intestine. Things began to look hopeless, many friends and family came forth to give love and support in what was truly our darkest hour. After several surgeries my son’s health was still borderline. Then the worst happened, he took a turn for the worst developing a whole in his lung, retaining fluid to dangerous levels and several infections.
The doctors told me and my husband that they have hit a brick wall and there was little else for them to do. He also stated that we should prepare for the worst and that the only thing that would save my son would be our faith. I wouldn’t give up on my son. I refused to believe that the Lord allowed my son to come into the world only to make him suffer and take him again. I prayed day and night just as always.
I would sit by his bedside and sing “Jesus loves you.” One day will sitting in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) prayer and being thankful for having my son with me I felt someone walk up behind me. They put their hands on my shoulders and I felt the warmth of their body against my back. Eyes filled with tears, I took a breath and turned to greet them. No one was there. I glanced around the room to see if anyone was around. Still no one. I turned to my son and at that moment I know that we had been touched by the Lord. My son made a miraculous recovery and joined us at home in December. When we make periodic visits to the NICU, the doctors and staff say to me that my son’s recovery was a miracle, no one believed that he would live to come home. Praise the Lord for he is mighty. Every time I look into my son’s bright eyes and witness his brilliant smile, I Know the miracle of the Lord’s love for he breathed life into my child.
Another miracle that I’ve witnessed was a friend who had hit financially difficult times. she had her family had depleted all available funds and were at risk of losing everything that they own. I had spoken with her about her problems and prayed that the Lord bless her with a way out of her depts. One day, shortly after our conversation her husband was coming home from work and saw an object fall of the top of the car in front of him. He stopped to see what it was and found that it was a bible.
He looked around and car that the bible had fallen off of was already gone. He took the bible home to his wife and she began looking for the owner. She tried several time with no luck. Normally a person would give up by now, but clearly this was a bible that was well used. It was old, torn and marked in. She was determined to find the owner.
Finally after about a month the contacted a person related to the owner. They gave her instructions on how to get the church where they worshiped. She drove there that night. When she got there she found a small group of people having bible study. She gladly returned the book explaining how her husband had found it. Before she could leave, the person leading the bible study mentioned that my friend needed help with her finance. Without wanting details, everyone began digging in their wallets and purses and handed money over to my friend. She gave all her thanks and praised the Lord. When she got home she counted the money and found that it was just enough to send in a payment for her house note, plus a little extra to get a few items that her son wanted. Ask he ye shall receive. The Lord may not answer prayers right when you ask, but he is always on time.
I hope that this will help someone who may be having hard time and trouble keeping the faith. Please forgive me if they are lengthy. These miracles small that they may be are still evidence of his very existence and love for us. I have many inspirational stories to share about how Christ has turned my life around. Please let me know If you wish me to share them with you.
I have seen the glory of the Lord and am here to let the world know. I walk in His path and find glory at every corner. Glory be thy name.

Also in answer to this weeks question, I know personally and Biblically that my God still moves and answers prayer and is still performing miracles today just as he did in the Bible days. Personally, I have seen many people healed, and know that it had to be God. I myself went from almost dying on Friday morning, and them not knowing whether I had had a stroke or what to being back in church on Sunday morning. Praise God! I know that my God still moves. Biblically: Malachi3:6 For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. Also, Hebrews 13 says he is the same, yesterday, today and forever. That tells me what he did then, he still does it now. Praise his name!

Miracles are happening everyday all around us. Where have you been? And honestly isn’t it a miracle that God hasn’t put an end to all this nonsense going on. That he still gives us all that one last chance every day to turn around and ask forgiveness is a miracle in itself. Considering how much Jesus laid on the line for us, and how little we are willing to lay down for him. It is a wonder he doesn’t just zap us all.
In HIS Grace,

I believe that miracles still happens today, because the Word say that God is the same yesterday, today and forever more. People are being healed, delivered and set free and if we were to hear their testimonies they would say it was a miracle that happen in their lives.

Well the simple answer is a resounding Yes!!. Miracles happen all around us. In fact several have happened in my life. One involved my recovery from a fatal illness 12 months ago. There was no medical reason for my survival. In fact I was told afterwards by the head of ICU that it was unheard of for anyone to recover from what I had. My recovery was a direct result of being anointed and prayed for.
There are miracles happening in the modern state of Israel where prophecy is being fulfilled as we live. Like in the 6 day war in the late 1960’s when a small Israeli ground force encountered a battalion of Egyptian tanks marching towards Israel. Without a shot being fired the Egyptians abandoned their tanks, took their boots off so they could run faster, and headed back to Egypt. From an Egyptian officer interviewed later it was revealed that the Egyptians saw ‘thousands’ of strange looking soldiers advancing toward them, wearing white garments and whose feet were not touching the ground. This incident is documented and was reported in the press at the time.
There are many more to come out of both world wars.
Making medical history where I live is the story of my wife. Lorraine was internally damaged by the butting of a pet sheep at about the age of 5. Although bleeding from the vagina she was not taken to a doctor as her mother had no transport and no telephone and no neighbours within walking distance and her father was off working on the sheep station, camped out for a week. She recovered. At the age of 15 she was operated on for appendicitis by a drunk doctor. He not only could not find the appendix but he passed out before the surgery was finished and the assistant sewed her up leaving a piece of the abdominal lining unattached.
A flying surgeon was called in 3 days later and he performed a full laperotomy, found the appendix around near the left kidney, noted that her insides were all twisted and left them that way as there was too much danger in doing more than was necessary to get the burst appendix and clean up. A partial bowel resection was also required at this time. He later told Lorraine’s mother in Lorraine’s hearing that she would need to be treated with care and would never be able to have children.
This devastated Lorraine and she ‘awoke’ one night to find a strange man sitting on her bed. He told her not to worry about not being able to have children, that she would in fact have 6. She always thought that was an angel.
The year we married she required an operation for internal growths (one proved cancerous, but contained). The piece of peritoneal lining from the botched appendix operation had looped around the right fallopian tube causing cysting and infection. The infection had spread throughout her abdominal cavity. The surgeon took the right ovary and tube, removed tumours from her womb, removed a cyst from the left ovary, cutting part of the ovary away, noted that the left tube was damaged by scaring from the infection, straightened out her inverted uterus and as much of her internal parts as he could.
He told me later that he would have taken the lot but something stopped him. He left her with part of an ovary and a damaged tube and uterus. He later provided a certificate that it was medically impossible for her to conceive and we applied for adoption. We also kept charts at that time and determined that ovulation occurred only about once a year.
Shortly after that she did conceive but the embryo was lodged in the tube and emergency surgery was called for. She was rushed to a provincial city for surgery and subsequently sacked the surgeon, refusing to let him touch her. I was called in from the country town in which we lived in the middle of the night because it was thought she would die. The surgeon told me that he could not operate given her state of mind and refusal and that he would only ‘go in’ if the tube burst and an attempt to save her life was to be made.
Well, all the stress caused the embryo to abort naturally and surgery was not required. Some 2 years later she conceived again. She attended the same specialist who had operated and he was filled with awe, said it was not possible, but since there was a heartbeat had to agree with the GP.
She was looked after like a sore thumb but the baby was delivered without mishap. We were told that we had had a miracle and that it could not possibly happen again. 5 months later she was pregnant again. She had so much trouble carrying the second one because of all the adhesions she was told not to have any more. The third one was conceived despite an IUD, the fourth despite the pill and the fifth despite a condom. That made five. We were offered legal abortions for the last three but declined.
Later I was to discover that children who are miscarried are counted by God and their spirits rest with the rest of the dead. So since the first one who was lost through natural abortion is counted by God, we have the six.
Now: think about it; ovulate once a year from part of an ovary, damaged tube, doctor who removed vital bits claiming conception impossible, normally reliable contraception in place for last three, six conceptions in accordance with a mysterious prophecy. I claim several miracles.
Oh, by the way, I had a depressed sperm count according to tests done at the time of the last operation.
Many of the miracles from the wars are documented and are a tremendous witness.
The battle of Mons, where a small group of Australian Light Horse were cut off by German advance and were faced with surrender or die fighting in a daring charge. Their captain called them to prayer and they mounted and charged. The Germans saw all this and decided to give them an honourable death. However after firing a few shots the Germans broke and ran and the Australians rode through the German lines without loss and made it back to their own lines. Captured Germans told of the incident recalling thousands and thousands of horsemen clad in white charging toward them, with the feet of the horses not touching the ground and not affected by gunfire.
A lifeboat full of sailors adrift on the ocean and water had run out, prayed for rain. A squall passing some half mile in front of them, came back against the wind, rained over their boat until all their containers were full and then moved off with the wind. There are many more to come in the years ahead when the Holy Spirit will pour out His power on the followers of Jesus during the time when no man might buy or sell unless he has the ‘mark of the beast’
God bless you all and never hesitate to expect a miracle when you pray, but always remember, ‘not my will but Thy will be done’

I personally believe that miracles still do happen in this day and age. In fact, one came my way in December. An Angel was riding in my car on the way to church one Sunday morning and as I rounded a curve in the road, which was wet with rain, my car skidded and began to flip. Most importantly, the life of my 17 month old grandson was spared, as was mine and this was DEFINITELY a miracle.
Soooooooo yes, miracles still do happen, and they do exist.
In His name, I am definitley a believer.

Prayer partners,
Yes, by all means, God still works miracles, today, and no miracles were not just for the past. The Bible says that God is the same yesterday, today and forever more. I am a walking miracle- myself and have received more than a few, miracles from the Lord. In 1984, I was pregnant with our 5th daughter, the pregnancy went very, well. However, I’d had a C-Section for the previous birth and was going to have to have another.
So on the AM that I started in labour, I went to the hospital, upon arrival there, I was examined by an Intern, who examined me- opened me up with vaginal stern-ups (I was 8 1/2 mo.) at the time. This caused me so much pressure on my already full uterus that I started haemorrhaging- internal bleeding- I didn’t know this at the time.
They finally called my dr. who came and didn’t thoroughly check me, but sent me back home- about 35 miles away. He told me that if I had a problem to call him. Well, Now, I got sicker and sicker, I kept feeling faint but I hurt worse, after leaving the hospital, than I did before going there. It seemed as if someone were stabbing me with a knife and twisting it around in my stomach. Basically, my baby girl drowned in my own blood. I’d lost so much blood, I went into shock; blood pressure went down so low, they could only, faintly feel it- “palpitation”.
My husband called the Dr who told him to bring me to his office- instead of the emergency room- so he just covered his mistakes. At a certain point, I almost died, too. The baby was the biggest, healthiest- looking one I ever had. They couldn’t put me to sleep because of all these other problems. My uterus just “blew-up” into many pieces. The Drs in the lab just were shocked that I didn’t die from all this. But to God be all the Glory!!! We went thru hell- at a point I “wanted to die”- so I thought.
But I am so thankful that 16 years later, God has still let me live and be a blessing to many others!!! This experience has brought our family closer together, thank God. My feet had begun to feel a deathly cold that’s indescribable, all the way up to my knees.
I knew that I was dying- but God stopped by my bedside long enough to stop me from dying and to extend my life. only God
Almighty could do that and I’m eternally grateful for that!!! Yes, I am a walking miracle!!!
