2 Kings 13:14 “Now Elisha was suffering from the illness from which he died.” NIV
Elisha was a mighty prophet of God who had received a double portion of the Spirit that was in Elijah. He was loved by God and had served God in his ministry for over 60 years. However his time had come to leave our world. The illness he received lead to his death. His time was up.
This didn’t make him less precious to God. Ps 116:15 “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.” NIV
2 Kings 20:1 “In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the LORD says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.” NIV
Hezekiah was facing a deadly illness. He pleaded with God and God granted an extension. However he had to “Put your house in order”. This same message is given to all of us. We are all facing death sooner or later. Only those who are still alive when Jesus Christ comes back will not die. Is your house in order?
