1 Cor 11:29-30 “For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself. That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.” NIV
1 Cor 12:21 “The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” NIV
“Body of the Lord” can refer to the literal body of Jesus Christ, but it also means the church (Col 1:18 “And he is the head of the body, the church” NIV If you do not discern the “body of the Lord” we may stop God’s healing flow.
Some believe that they do not need to go to any particular meeting to be healed. “God can heal me where I am. I don’t need to go to any church. I don’t need to go to any crusade. I don’t need to meet with other people. God is not limited!” “Others say only in my church can healing occur!”
What happens if the church you attend has no knowledge about God’s healing promises? What happens if in the meetings you attend, no one really believes in the power of God’s Holy Spirit? What happens if God’s Word is not preached where you go? Faith comes by hearing God’s Word!
Notice that during Jesus’ healing ministry, people were going out of their way to meet Him. Others brought the sick to Him. Even in the book of Acts people were placed in the streets so that Peter’s shadow would pass over them. There is an active searching on the part of those who are sick. Some travelled from far in order to meet the Messiah. Why would we be any different?
