What is the meaning of Proverbs 11:30a: The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life”?
Proverbs 11:30a “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life”, a powerful proverbial statement of King Solomon means a lot to me and anyone who is a right standing believer in Christ Jesus.
In Proverbs 10:11 “The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked”.
The statement establishes that believers have mouths with which to communicate the Gospel. We also have privileges to perform certain things for the Kingdom. We are God’s representatives (ambassadors) here on earth. You don’t have to make any noise about yourself, it is your deed (works) that would depict who you are. Jesus in you is the hope of glory.
The statement is referring to the expectation of God from a believer. God has already made the believers to be a fountain from which life will flow. He is supposed to demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit as contain in Galatians 5:22-26.
Proof Producer: In Mark 16:15-18 Jesus charged the disciples to go into the world and preach the Gospel. Those who believe would be saved and have ever lasting life. Those who would not believe are condemned already because they have refused to believe in the only begotten Son of God. The believer that go about preaching the Gospel with signs following is a tree of life.
In Deuteronomy 30:14 The scripture is establishing the fact that the Word of God is in the mouth of every believer to speak out. It is also in the heart of every believer to obey. The believer has come to show the world the picture of who God is in various perspectives of the doing of the Word.
We should be not be hearers only but doers of the Word. James 1:22-24. When Jesus commanded the disciples to go, He gave them authority over unclean spirits. He said in my Name Ye shall cast out devils. Lay hands on the sick and the sick will recover. Believers doing these have become the tree of life. You minister to a dying soul and he becomes alive unto Christ. You minister to a sick man and he is healed. The demon possessed person is delivered from demonic powers. God has made the righteous believer to be the tree of life.
I want to submit that part (b) of Proverb 11 confirms the above. The Gospel of Christ is life. “For God so loved the World that He gave us His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have ever lasting Life”
Let me conclude that this statement is essentially challenging every believer to witness and be his ambassador in all ramifications of the truth. Speaking grace, preaching, teaching, singing psalms and prophesying as the Spirit of the Lord leads and many other manifestations of the gift of the Spirit are the primary reasons for our living as believers. They are primarily for soul winning and discipleship.
Let me conclude that this statement is essentially challenging every believer to witness and be his ambassadors in all ramifications of the truth.

NRSV translates “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life.” But I have seen translations differ to “The fruit of the righteous shall lie beneath the tree of life.” Whatever the translation, the scripture has deep and personal meaning for me.
In the original Hebrew language it is written:
30 Pªriy- tsadiyq `eets
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of
chayiym wªloqeeach nªpaasowt
life; and he that winneth souls is
chaakaam
wise.
There seems to be a parallelism between verse 30a and verse 30b.
The fruit of the righteous – that winneth souls
is a tree of life – is wise
The tree of life refers to the tree that was originally in Eden and was used to keep you eternally alive: Gen 3:22–“And the LORD God said, ‘The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.'”
That same tree is referred in the book of Revelation as being in the city of God: Rev 22:1-2–“Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.”
Winning souls is like bringing lost individuals to the tree of life. There is God’s wisdom in this, as those souls who accept the message of the gospel will obtain eternal life! John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

The fruit of the righteous is the tree of life, means in my opinion, Godly living brings eternal life, also ye shall know them by their fruit, every good tree bears good fruit while every evil tree brings forth evil fruit. He is the vine, we are the branches, No we are not actually trees, however we are referred to as trees and branches to help us understand the closeness God offers us. If we are His we are connected ,as a branch is to a tree, He being the tree. Anyone truly following or connected to God shows much goodness in his/her life. As a vine brings forth fruit, we in Him bring forth much goodness, for the fruit of the spirit should become evident in us. If we remain in Him. we will grow to be strong and sturdy as a tree, planted well and bearing much goodness, of God Himself.
